Academic Mentor
Two scholars are invited by the GYACD to chair the award committee of the Initiative as academic mentors. In collaboration with our academic mentors, The GYACD is designing the “Mentors’ Academy,” a series of online workshops about Chinese theater and theater-making for our participants, who will be able to access these asynchronous workshops on our website starting at the end of July. Yizhou Huang, Assistant Professor, Barnard College
Yizhou Huang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre at Barnard College. She holds a BA (2013) in English from Beijing Foreign Studies University and a PhD (2021) in Theater and Performance Studies from Tufts University. Her research interests include theatre history and historiography, performance studies, modern and contemporary Chinese theatre, and Asian American theatre. Her writings have appeared in Asian Theatre Journal, Verge: Studies in Global Asias, and Performance Research, among others. She is the recipient of the Helsinki Prize (2014) from the International Federation for Theatre Research and the New Scholars Prize (2020) from United Kingdom’s Society for Theatre Research.
Chenlin Wei, Associate Professor, Xi'an Jiaotong University
Chenlin Wei is currently an Associate Professor in the Chinese Department and serves as the assistant to the Department Head at Xi'an Jiaotong University. She received her undergraduate degree from Xiamen University (2012), her master’s degree from Renmin University of China (2015), and her doctoral degree from the University of Hong Kong (2018). She also recently worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago (2022-2023). Her recent research interests include Ming-Qing drama, vernacular stories, and comparative literature.
