Announcing the Theatrical Fellows for the 2024 Global Youth Sinophone Theater Creative Initiative

We are excited to announce that NoMad Theater, a Sinophone theater company based in New York, and Uphill Chinese Theater Group, Rhode Island’s only student-run Chinese theater group affiliated with Brown University, have been selected as the 2024 theatrical fellows for the Global Youth Sinophone Theater Creative Initiative. Chosen by the Creative Initiative Fellowship Committee, each group has been awarded a $1,000 fellowship in recognition of their artistic excellence, strong community engagement, and, most importantly, dedication to Sinophone theater.

NoMad Theater 纽约不疯剧社 is the first theater company in the NYC area to explore comedy in traditional Chinese language theatre. Having offered over 20 Theater workshops, delivered 10 public performances, and engaged over 1500 audiences, NoMad aspired to create transformative experiences that celebrate diversity, inspire artistic expression, and ignite the imagination of cross-cultural audiences and participants alike.

UpHill Chinese Theatre Group 山上剧社, the only student-run Chinese theater group in Rhode Island, is dedicated to promoting the unique culture of modern Chinese theatre performances in Rhode Island and inspiring insightful discussions on aesthetics and art forms through immersive theatrical experiences.
